I miss you

Funny

it's just three little words

eight total letters

letting go, I swear at the time seemed smart

now I know better

Words unspoken

they hang in the air

taunting unwelcome tokens

reminders of how I cared

I miss you.

right?

Or do I miss the you I wanted you to be?

questions they race in the quiet of the night

twisting and altering memory

I miss you.

such a simple phrase

but, it pulls and tugs at me

until my edges begin to fray

I miss you.

Words said so often

the meaning has become hollow

they drift in and out

like the silence they seem get lost in

I miss you.

but every now and then

I catch glimpse

just a peek

of the person I knew

I see your smile

the one that reaches all the way to your eyes

just for a little while

I back in a different time

I miss you.

frequently

unexpectedly

the feeling will just ripple through
