So much to be thankful for

This Military life has brought us so many wonderful things. Our family has been able to travel and see so many beautiful places and meet so many amazing humans. Unfortunately, all of these beautiful places are so far away from where our families live. That means we get to do a lot of traveling.

I say 'get to' because there are so many people who never have the opportunity to travel and see different parts of the country or world. I could give you a laundry list of complaints about the tedium of travel and the burden it can be to have to always be the ones on the road when it’s time for family to get together, but instead I am going to try to focus on the positive. 'Try' because I am human, and positivity sometimes comes in small bottles.

This year, instead of hosting our usual military Friendsgiving, my family piled into our ford explorer and hit the road. We have traveled from Las Vegas, Nevada to Dry Prong Louisiana with a few stops in between. in the spirit of the holiday, I wanted to share a few of the things I am thankful for this year.

I will always be grateful for my health. Having a strong body that allows for me to do so many things not the least of which is allowing me to keep up with and take care of my family. Those who have been following for a while may know I have two busy kiddos and an active-duty military husband. Often, I am juggling everyone's schedule solo while moving in a million different directions. Having a strong healthy body is something I will never take for granted.

There are a few things that have brought me as much genuine joy as being a wife and mother. There is that saying "the days pass slow, but the years go fast" the truth of those words cannot be overstated. Many of us get so bogged down in the day-to-day moments and the frustrations that life can bring that we forget how precious little time we really have. I am so grateful for the privilege of having a family to drive me crazy.

We all need people. I am extremely grateful for all of the wonderful people who have been placed in my life. I have been blessed with some amazing humans who have become like family. My friends have grounded me when life was shaky, supported me when I was falling apart, raged with me when life was unfair. These are the people I have chosen to be in my family.

Life is messy, heart breaking, and so often simply exhausting. In the midst of all the messy there is still so much to be thankful for. I hope your holiday season is off to a great start. May you continue to find things to be thankful for!
